Nowata Track Standout Qualifies for State Meet

Nowata track and field standout Tristan McBride has qualified for the 2A state meet for the second year in a row. The Ironmen competed in their 2A regional in Cherokee on Saturday.
 
McBride finished second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.79 seconds to qualify. 
 
McBride, just a sophomore this season, qualified for the state meet as a freshman last year. He finished ninth in the preliminaries in the 110-meter hurdles, 0.1 seconds shy of qualifying for the state finals with a time of 16.03 seconds. He finished 11th in the prelims in the 300-meter hurdles at state with a time of 43.26 seconds.
 
Head coach Tim Farris talked about his expectations for McBride before regionals.
 
The 2A state track and field meet is May 8 and 9 at Western Heights High School in Oklahoma City.
