Two local high school basketball coaches have been selected to coach in the Northeast Oklahoma All-Star Game in Cleveland on Saturday.
On the boy's side, Dewey head coach Lance Knight will coach one of the teams. Caney Valley girl's coach Deric Longan will lead one of the girl's teams.
For Knight, he's coming off of one of Dewey's best seasons in recent memory. The Bulldoggers finished their season with a 24-4 record and a Northeast Valley Conference championship. Dewey was one win away from advancing to the area tournament during their playoff run this season. Three players: Kooper Crawford, Tra Hicks and Karson Johnson were selected to play in the all-star game.
For Longan, he led Caney Valley to a 25-4 season, peaking at No. 17 in the Class 2A rankings. The Lady Trojans advanced to the area tournament this past season, and finished tied with Dewey with a 7-1 conference record. Lone senior Abby Daigle was selected to play in the all-star game.
Knight will be coaching against Jason Bogle from Riverfield. Longan will be coaching against Rickey Bruner from East Central.
Each all-star game will be played on Saturday in Cleveland. The girl's game tips off at 12 p.m. with the boys game to follow at 2 p.m.
