With the calendar turning to October on Wednesday, High school basketball practice can officially begin across the state of Oklahoma.

Hoops practice begins but games do not usually begin until after Thanksgiving.

At Bartlesville High, the Bruins are working in a new head coach with a familiar name. Jake Christenson takes over the program. Christenson was a former head coach in Barnsdall and Pawhuska. He comes most recently from 4A Cushing.

Christenson talks about how the transition has gone.

Christenson says Bartlesville expects to rotate 10 guys or more early on this season, as the Bruins again sport tremendous depth but not a lot of size. Jordan Turner, who was one of the biggest Bruins, was injured in the offseason.

He talks about some of the positives for the Bruins, as they had a winning record during exhibition games in June.

Bartlesville will have its first non-District game at home before Thanksgiving before District play begins in December.
