Dewey Baseball Splits Regional Opener in Silo

Brian McSweeney
Dewey Bulldogger baseball will stay alive another day in their regional in Silo, after splitting their doubleheader on Thursday.
The Bulldoggers took out Kansas to open the day, 2-1, but fell to Silo in the nightcap, 10-0.
Dewey was in a battle in their regional opener with Kansas. The Doggers took an early 1-0 lead through three innings before Kansas knotted things up in the fourth. Easton Davis hit a sacrifice fly to score Nathan Sloan in the sixth to put Dewey ahead for good.
Lathe Griggs was stellar on the mound in game one. He went the full seven innings, allowed six hits, one run, one walk and struck out 10.
The bats struggled to get going in game two when Dewey took on Silo. The Bulldoggers finished the second game of the day with just four hits. Easton Davis had two of the four, he went 2-2 at the plate.
Dewey had to burn through three pitchers in their Thursday finale.
Dewey will have to beat Silo twice on Friday in order to escape the regional. First pitch in game one is set for 4 p.m.
