The Barnsdall Panthers have made it back to the playoffs for yet another season. After finishing fourth in Class A-II District 4, the Panthers will have a difficult first round match-up, as they get set to take on a 9-1 Talihina team that came out on top of a three way with Regent Prep and Central Sallisaw.

The Golden Tigers have been a consistent program over the years, but around the time COVID-19 hit, their numbers went down and they were forced to drop football altogether for a short period. Coach Kylee Sweeney says they have bounced back well though over the last two years. The Golden Tigers went 5-5 last year before the first place district finish this year.

As the season goes along, it seems like most teams suffer more scrapes and bruises. With Barnsdall, Sweeney says his team is getting healthy at the right time.

These two teams met in the playoffs in back-to-back years in 2016 and 2017 with the Golden Tigers winning both times. Kick time for this years first round match up in Talihina is set for 7 p.m.
