Severe Weather Possible Today and on Independence Day

The risk for severe weather increases Wednesday afternoon and evening, and then again on Independence Day across the listening area.

Strong to marginally severe thunderstorms are expected to form along and near a frontal boundary that will be stalling near the I-44 corridor Wednesday afternoon. The threat of severe storms will continue into the evening hours. Damaging winds and large hail will be the main concern. The chances for severe weather are in the marginal risk level (Level 1 of 5).

Strong to severe storms are forecast to occur again Thursday afternoon and continue into Thursday night across northeast Oklahoma and southeast Kansas. Damaging winds and large hail will be the main concern. The threat for severe weather on Independence Day is a slight risk (Level 2 of 5).
