Dewey Man Charged With Child Abuse

A Dewey man was charged with child abuse in Washington County Court on Monday after officers responded to a domestic disturbance case on Sunday evening.

 

Officers arrived to the scene and made contact with the defendant, Caleb Peaster. The 33-year old claimed that he had been attacked by his girlfriend and that she bit him on the wrist. Peaster went on to show officers a single bite mark on the wrist and later alleged the victim struck Peaster in the face. Officers found no markings.

 

An affidavit goes on to say that the female victim, who is a juvenile, informed officers that Peaster had taken money from her. When attempting to get it back and threatening to call the cops, Peaster took the victim's phone. When the victim tried to get the money and phone back, she alleges that Peaster hit her in the right eye. The victim did admit to biting Peaster so that she could get away.

 

Officers noticed fresh bruising and swelling on the victim's right eye and cheek. Peaster and the female victim admitted that they had been in a dating for aproximatley six months.

 

Peaster saw his bond set at $25,000 on the condition he is to have no contact with the alleged victim or members of the family. His next court date is set for Friday, July 19th at 9:30 a.m.
