Human Remains Identified as Missing Bartlesville Man

Human remains found in Nowata County have been identified as a Bartlesville man who has been missing for more than a year.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says DNA tests confirm the remains are 21-year-old Devin Viles, who was reported missing in July 2022. He was last seen in Tulsa with 34-year-old Brock Anthony Edward Thompson of Nowata, who has been charged with first-degree murder.

According to a news release, OSBI agents were called in August 2022 by Bartlesville police to assist in investigating Viles’ suspicious disappearance. During the investigation, OSBI found human remains in Nowata County. DNA tests completed on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023 confirmed the identification of Viles.

The suspect, Brock Thompson, is currently incarcerated in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for trafficking in illegal drugs. He was charged with Viles’ murder in January 2023 based on other evidence and is currently awaiting trial in Nowata County.

Brock Thompson of Nowata has been charged with first-degree murder.
