US Sen. Mullin Discusses Bartlesville's Water Supply Concerns

Even though recent rains have helped tremendously with Bartlesville's water supply, the issue of water shortages and long-term planning are still on the minds of city, state and national leaders.
U.S. Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., met with officials from the city of Bartlesville and Washington County on Tuesday to discuss possible water supply solutions from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Sen. Mullin says a lot of progress has been made through his office and the offices of Sen. James Lankford and Rep. Josh Brecheen, but the solution is still a bit off.
Sen. Mullin says it has been difficult to work with the Corps of Engineers and it might cost the city of Bartlesville more money to find that solution.
Sen. Mullin says there are at least two other options the group is trying to explore if the Corps of Engineers plan falls through.
Bartlesville City Manager Mike Bailey says it is encouraging to see the support the city is receiving from the Congressional delegation and acknowledged that more work is needed.
As of Tuesday, Hulah Lake, the city's primary water source is nearly 1-foot ABOVE normal. However, Copan Lake, which is a secondary water source, is still more than 5-feet BELOW normal.
