Fiddler Gets Kevin Lynch Scholarship
It's been a bit more than a week since the Doenges Ford Indians had their 2023 season wrap up.
Toward the end of the season there was a special scholarship given out to an Indian’s player.
The “Kevin Lynch Hard Worker” Scholarship was given to former Caney Valley outfielder Haden Fiddler.
Fiddler will get $1,000 in a scholarship to further his college career. Fiddler plays college baseball at NEO in Miami and will be a sophomore this fall.
In a season that had quite a bit of offensive inconsistency, Fiddler was a mainstay and steadfast bat at the top of the lineup. The former Trojan hit .337 from the leadoff spot all season. He led the Tribe in hits, average and on-base percentage.
He also had one of the biggest hits of the summer. He had a game-tying single for the Tribe in the final inning of pool play in the Glen Winget Tournament.
This base hit moved Bartlesville into the semifinals for the third straight season.
More than just his play on the field, according to Lynch, Fiddler personified the same work ethics day-in day-out during the summer-long season as Lynch had during his Indian’s career.
