Vashus Begins at Bruin Wrestling Coach

We are in the depths of the offseason, with the OSSAA dead week here. There is no activity for any high school athlete across the state of Oklahoma.

At Bartlesville High, Bruin wrestlers are starting to meet their new head coach. Bryan Vahsus was hired in the spring out of Colorado to replace longtime former skipper Josh Pulsifer. Pulsifer resigned in the middle of the 2023-24 season.

Vashsus came with head coaching experience, but no idea about Bartlesville High or the wrestlers in the program.

He has been in town for a couple of weeks and Vahsus talks about his initial impressions of some of his guys.

Vashus has had a couple of meetings with parents and athletes along with the open mats and he has been a part of the summer pride program.

He talks about how the workload this offseson will depend upon what the leaders of the program want it to be.

Vashsus says there were still a handful of wrestlers he had yet to meet. Official practices won’t start until October.

He says meet and greets and fundraising will be a the top of his to-do list over the next few weeks. There is also a summer camp next week.
