The Caney Valley Trojans played host to the Nowata Ironmen Tuesday night in the final matchup in conference between the two. After splitting the first two meetings, the Trojans took over early in the first half and never looked back. Caney Valley beat Nowata 62-53 in a near wire-to-wire victory.

For the Trojans, it was Rocky Hester who shined bright as he dropped 22-points to lead all scorers in the game. Hester was hot all game as he hit three of his four three-pointers in the first half, including this one.

Hester grabs the Patriot Player of the Game honors for his performance.

Nowata was able to keep pace but trailed mostly by 8-12 for the majority of the game, but never quit fighting. Kaleb Bashford led the Ironmen in scoring with 18, including this three-ball to cut the fourth quarter deficit to 10.

Trojans though made the free throws late in the game to hold off Nowata to grab the conference season sweep, their second straight win, and their 13th win on the year.

Nowata falls to 8-13 and they’re off until they host Afton on Friday for senior night, and for the Trojans they get Chelsea at home on Friday.

The Caney Valley girls also won, they beat the Lady Ironmen 43-36.
