Tri, Tri Again

If your idea of cardio is walking from the couch to the fridge, Saturday might be a little humbling. The Richard Kane YMCA's Tri in July returns July 18 from 7 to 11:30 a.m. at Sooner Park and Pool, giving athletes of all ages a chance to swim, bike, and run for a good cause. The sprint triathlon benefits the YMCA's Membership For All scholarship program, helping local families and kids gain access to healthy living opportunities. Adults will tackle a 400-meter swim, a 12-mile bike ride, and a 5K run, while young competitors ages 6-13 will have age-appropriate courses designed just for them.

Whether you're chasing a personal record or just hoping to cross the finish line before the snacks disappear, organizers say the event is open to all skill levels. Every participant receives a race shirt and a finisher's medal, proving that sometimes simply surviving counts as an achievement. So lace up those running shoes, dust off the bicycle that's been doubling as garage décor, and remember: it's called a triathlon because apparently one form of exercise just wasn't enough.
