Time ran out on Pawhuska’s season on Friday night, as they suffered a 28-24 loss to the Kansas Comets. The Huskies had the ball, down four and they were driving deep into Kansas territory, but after being tackled inbounds with only seconds remaining, they were unable to get over the ball in time to run another play.

After surrending a touchdown on the opening drive of the game on defense, the Huskies responded with a touchdown of their own. It was a 59-yard touchdown run from JoJo Hendren. This pitch and catch from Canyon Hindman to Lane Kyler gave the Huskies a 16-7 lead in the second quarter.

A Kansas touchdown trimmed the lead to 16-14 at the halftime break. The Comets also scored a touchdown to take a 22-16 lead early in the fourth quarter and with five minutes left, they had the ball looking to drain as much clock as possible, but this Husky interception gave Pawhuska life.

Pawhuska took advantage, as Traven Richardson scored on a 25-yard touchdown pass to retake the lead at 24-22, with four minutes remaining but the Comets marched down the field and scored with 1:21 left setting up the last second drive from the Huskies.

Pawhuska finishes the year at 6-5.
