Thunder Pick Topic at No. 12

The Oklahoma City Thunder picked up two players last night in the first round of the NBA Draft from New York.

The big one was a little surprising. The Thunder selected Nikola Topic, a 6-7 ball handler at No. 12 overall.

Topic was being mocked as a top-5 talent in this year’s draft class before suffering an ACL injury. The injury will likely keep him sidelined for the entire 2024-25 season.

Thunder General Manager Sam Presti talks about the organization’s thoughts on the injury.

On the specifics of the injury, Presti says the franchise did its homework and feels like they understand the extent of the issues.

Later in the night, OKC traded five future second round picks to the New York Knicks for the rights to Dillon Jones at No. 26 overall.

Jones was a surprise pick, at 6-6 he averaged 20.8 points-per-game for Weber State and was an All Big-Sky pick each of the past three years.

OKC does not have any picks in Thursday's second round – for now.
