Week two of high school football gearing up for Friday night.

There is one local team that is already coming off their bye week.

The South Coffeyville Lions kicked off their football season with a decisive 20-6 victory over Graham-Dustin two weeks ago. The win marked a strong debut for first-year head coach Rich Giesen.

Giesen says he hopes the victory sets the tone for a successful season.

While the Lions had to contend with a bye week immediately following their season opener.

Giesen says the challenge now is to keep the energy from their opening win alive as they prepare for the weeks ahead.

Up next for South Town, a game against Claremore Christian in non-District play.

Originally scheduled for Friday, the contest has been moved to Thursday and will now be played at Foyil.

Giesen expressed confidence in his team’s preparation, stressing that every game is an opportunity to build on South Coffeyville’s promising start.
