Practice Heats Up in Copan
High School football practice is deep into week No. 2 across northeast Oklahoma. KWON continued its tour of fall camps across the area by attending practice in Copan last night.
The Hornets have 22 guys out for the squad this year, as Copan is trying to host a playoff game for a third straight season.
Copan lost its building block group of seniors, as a handful of impactful Hornet seniors graduated last year. Still, Copan has reloaded in its second year under head coach Trenton Kallenberger.
Ashton Jeffers, Ejiah Evans, Zane Stricklin and others will lead the charge for Copan this fall.
Stricklin will be a second year starting quarterback as a senior this fall. He just helped lead the Doenges Toyota Indians to a Legion State Championship this past summer.
Stricklin says the goal for Copan is clear in 2026.
Copan will be a zero week kick off on Aug. 28, as the Hornets go out of state to take on New Heights Christian Academy in Joplin, Missouri.
Kallenberger goes over some of the rest of Copan’s fall camp schedule.
As Stricklin mentioned, Copan is looking for its first playoff win since 2008. The Hornets have dropped first round contests each of the past three seasons.
