Pitching Propels Bruins in Bixby Series

Bartlesville High baseball split a pair of games against Bixby earlier this week, as the Bruins have a week and a half left in the regular season.
BHS beat Bixby 2-1 on Monday and lost to the Spartans 1-0 on Tuesday. A good result for a BHS team that has appeared to start to find its footing late in the season.
The Bruins got tremendous starting pitching from DJ Thornton on Monday and Hudson Baker on Tuesday. The two combined to allow just six hits over 13 innings to a Bixby lineup with multiple D1 players.
Head coach Cody Price talks about the week thus far.
Neither Thornton nor Baker were in line to get District starting jobs early in the season. However, injuries and graduation left the Bruins with some holes to fill in those spots. Both have logged their best starts over the past two weeks.
Price talks about his District starter’s progression this season.
Strike throwing has been their superpower. The duo has combined to throw 79 innings with only 26 walks this year.
Two games left this week, beginning with a road contest at Collinsville on Thursday. BHS has its final District set against PC North on Monday and Tuesday.
