Pawhuska travelled to Fairland on Thursday night in hopes of winning a district championship. The Lady Huskies were successful in doing so, while the boys fell short.

The Lady Huskies defeated Fairland with ease, 52-27. Pawhuska trailed 6-0 early on, but responded in a big way, as the Lady Huskies went on a 29-5 run to end the first half. They held a 29-11 lead at the halftime break.

In a slow moving first quarter, this defensive play from Brooklyn Miles broke a 6-6 tie at the end of the first quarter.

Miles went on to finish with 20 points, 16 rebounds and 8 steals. Emily Curry finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

The Lady Huskies will face Caney Valley on Tuesday night in Pawhuska for a chance at the regional championship game. That game can be heard on 99.1 FM KPGM and audio coverage will be available at KPGMTV.com.

Offense was hard to come by for the boys in a 52-40 loss. Despite the difficulty in getting in an offensive groove, Pawhuska stayed in the game until the end.

The Huskies trailed 25-21 at halftime and hanging around late in the third quarter, this bucket from Darien West trimmed the Owl lead to a point.

The Owls made a basket at the third quarter buzzer to go up five. Fairland then extended the lead to double digits early in the fourth quarter before going on to get the win.

Jenson Snodgrass led the way for Pawhuska, as he finished with 12 points.

Pawhuska plays in a win or go home game on Thursday against Caney Valley. Tipoff from Pawhuska is set for 7:30 p.m. Coverage of that ballgame can also be heard on 99.1 FM KPGM and KPGMTV.com.
