It has been more than a week since the Pawhuska Huskies have played a competitive game of basketball. When they step on the hardwood for Saturday’s first round home regional game, the boys will be looking to survive and advance. With a win, the Lady Huskies will automatically advance to Area and put themselves in a Regional championship game on Tuesday evening.

Lady Huskies Coach David Cash says while it has been difficult getting out to practice this week, this is the point of the season where each player should know her role.

The Lady Huskies are playing Fairland for a chance to get to the regional championship game. The Lady Owls defeated Quapaw in districts last Saturday 46-31, completing a three-game sweep of that series this year.

Pawhuska played last Friday, while the Lady Owls played on Saturday. Cash says it was advantageous getting to go watch the 19-6 Fairland team in person.

On the guy’s side, Pawhuska is taking on a 3-15 Quapaw team in a win or your season is over type basketball game. In order to get to the state tournament, the Huskies will need to run the table in both regionals and area. That would mean winning six games in eight days. Coach Jason Snodgrass says his team is up for the challenge.

The Pawhuska boys will tip at 2:30 p.m. against Quapaw in a must-win situation and the girl’s game will start at 6 p.m. with an opportunity to advance to the Regional championship game on Tuesday. Both of those games are at home and can be heard on 99.1 FM KPGM and audio coverage will be available at KPGMTV.com.
