It's another Monday which means we have a new Patriot Auto Group Area Athlete of the Week, powered by Tri County Tech.

This week, we head to Nowata and feature Ironmen basketball star Talon Thompson.

Thompson is in his senior season at Nowata and is the only senior on the roster. Thompson talked about his leadership role as the only senior.

The Ironmen return a handful of pieces from last year's team that went 16-10 and won a Northeast Valley Conference championship. Thompson talked about the bond with his teammates.

As far as the future goes, Thompson hopes to play basketball in college and major in business in college.

Nowata has started out the season 2-0 with wins over Caney Valley (OK) and Oklahoma Union under head coach Derick Ott. Thompson talked about getting to play for Ott.

Nowata returns to the floor on Tuesday night for Mannford in the opening round of the Ty Hewitt Memorial Tournament at 5:30 p.m.
