OU Softball Falls Before Title Round

Wasn’t a great day for OU softball or baseball on Monday, as the Sooners had both their seasons come to an end in the NCAA Tournament.

Let’s start with softball, Oklahoma had to beat Texas Tech twice to get to a best-of-three championship series on Wednesday.

For a moment, it looked like OU had pulled another rabbit out of the hat. Down to their final out Oklahoma got a game-tying two-run home run off the bat of Abigale Dayton.

The home run kept the game going, but Tech would walk it off on a sac-fly in the bottom of the seventh. Tech beat the Sooners, 3-2.

The loss ends a string of four national championships in a row for OU softball.

Meanwhile Oklahoma baseball had a shot at getting to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament but fell one game short.

The Sooners were light on pitching coming out of the loser’s bracket of the Chapel Hill Regional. North Carolina held on to beat OU, 14-4.

Oklahoma had won two games back-to-back on Sunday just to get to the winner-take-all title game on Monday.

Oklahoma ends its season at 38-22.
