OU Basketball Star Passes

One of the best players during the best era of Oklahoma basketball passed away over the weekend.

ESPN.com reported on Sunday that Lawton-native and former Sooner basketball standout Stacy King has died at 59.

King, a 6-10 left-handed center grew up in Lawton and was a second-team All-American as a junior when he averaged 22.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game and a consensus first-team All-American as a senior when he averaged 26 points, 10.1 rebounds and helped OU to NCAA Tournament No. 1 seeds both years.

King is OU’s No. 6 scorer in program history.

He went on to win three NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls and was in the league for eight seasons.
