OU and OK-State Play for Spot in Supers
We have two crucial games in the NCAA Baseball Tournament for both OU and Oklahoma State, as both will play for a spot in the Super Regionals on Monday.
To OU first, the Sooners faced a must-win situation against both Duke and then UCONN on Sunday. The Sooners won them both to force a winner-take-all final of the Norman Regional on Monday evening.
OU beat Duke, 4-3 in an elimination game in the afternoon. The Sooners then topped UCONN, 6-4 in the first of two possible title games late on Sunday night.
This bases clearing triple in the eighth from Bryce Madron ended up being the difference.
UCONN beat OU on Saturday night, 4-1 in a winner’s bracket game. Thus, both teams have one loss. The finale will be at 8:00 on Monday evening.
Winner to the Super Regionals at Florida State, loser done for the year.
Meanwhile in Stillwater, same type of deal. Oklahoma State lost its first Regional title game to Florida, 5-2 late on Sunday night. The winner-take-all final will be at 2:00 on Monday afternoon at O’Brate Stadium.
OK-State topped Florida 7-1 on Saturday to advance to the title games undefeated, which is why the Gators must beat the Cowboys twice.
Loser done for the year, winner heads to the Clemson Super Regional.
