The University of Oklahoma is officially in the SEC, as Norman was a big part of the sports world on Monday.

It was pomp and circumstance all day long in Oklahoma, as the Sooners celebrated moving to their new conference. OU head football coach Brent Venables even made a trip to Green Country, as he was a part of the Sooner crew at Tulsa’s Mother Road Market on Monday morning for a meet and greet.

On the SEC Network later in the day, Venables says Oklahoma’s football pedigree matches up with the SEC.

Meanwhile the most-celebrated comment from the day came from OU Athletic Director Joe Castiglione, who implied that former head coach Lincoln Riley was the only person he knew displeased with the Sooner’s move to the new conference.

Most of the celebration on Monday focused on football.

The Sooners will officially kick off the season as an SEC club on Friday, Aug. 30 against Temple.
