Oologah Looking for their Second District Win

The Oologah Mustangs faced a tough district setback Friday night, falling to the Fort Gibson Tigers in a physical matchup. Head coach Sam Noble said his team battled hard but struggled against a Fort Gibson squad loaded with size and experience.

It was a tough loss against a team with some bigger, older players. They just couldn’t quite match up physically in a few key spots.

Injuries also played a significant role in the outcome, as several key Mustangs were sidelined or limited throughout the game. Noble said the team’s depth was tested, forcing younger players to step into bigger roles sooner than expected. When you’re already up against a strong opponent and you lose some key guys, it changes the way you have to approach things. Overall, Noble was proud of how his players kept fighting through adversity.

Looking ahead, Oologah will try to bounce back this week against a tough Cushing team that is 2-0 in district play and coming off a big win over Grove. Coach Noble said the focus heading into the matchup will be on controlling what they can and staying disciplined. As always, Coach Noble wants to focus on the week ahead and ending Friday 1-0 and back in the Win Column. Kickoff is at 7PM in Oologah.
