OKWU Basketball Splits With Sterling

Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball split with Sterling College on Saturday at the Mueller Sports Center.
 
The Lady Eagles fell to Sterling, 59-44, the Eagles won their eighth straight, 88-70.
 
In the women's game, the Lady Eagles struggled to find their groove on offense, shooting just 37% from the field. OKWU turned the ball over 20 times and got outscored 19-8 in the fourth quarter. 
 
One bright spot was the defense, the Lady Eagles allowed just seven points in the first quarter and turned Sterling over four times on their first four possessions.
 
Gracie Alexander made two more three-pointers on Saturday for the Lady Eagles, including this one to tie the game in the third quarter.
 
The loss drops the Lady Eagles to 3-6 overall and 0-5 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
 
On the men's side, the Eagles rode another hot night on offense. OKWU scored 48 points in the first half on 60% shooting. The Eagles finished the night 55% from the field with 10 three-pointers.
 
The Eagles grew their lead as large as 18 points twice on the day. This alley-oop from Ethan Williams to Tamaje Izuagbe grew the lead to 13 points near the midpoint of the second half.
 
The win puts the Eagles at 9-1 overall and 5-0 in KCAC play.
 
Both OKWU clubs stay at home on Wednesday evening for Southwestern. The Lady Eagles will get the evening started at 6 p.m. with the men to follow around 8 p.m. Both games can be heard on Sports Talk, 99.1 FM - KPGM.
