OKWU Basketball Splits Doubleheader With Tabor

Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball split with Tabor College on Saturday. The women lost their second straight, 71-41, and the men dominated again, 88-71.
 
In the women’s game, OKWU struggled to contain Tabor’s shooting from the outside. The Lady Eagles trailed 8-0 early, Gracie Alexander hit this three-pointer in the first quarter to get the offense rolling. OKWU trailed by 10 at halftime and only scored 15 points in the second half. The Lady Eagles fall to 9-11 on the season.
 
On the men’s side, the Eagles continued to fly. OKWU led by seven at halftime and blew it open in the second half once again. They scored 50 points in the final frame to win their fifth straight. Although the Eagles struggled from the outside, they still shot 44% from the field. Yashi McKenzie hit this shot in the second half to extend the OKWU lead. The win puts the Eagles at an 11-3 record in the KCAC and a three-way tie for the top spot in the conference.
 
Both squads will stay on the road for Avila on Wednesday. The women’s game will tip-off first at 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
