Nowata Football Now in Mandatory OSSAA Dead Period

All local and area Oklahoma schools are in the mandatory OSSAA dead period this week and are getting some well-deserved time off in the middle of a tough heat wave. The Nowata Ironmen are getting ready to head to team camp later this month but have been plenty busy with their own devices up to this point.

Nowata Ironmen Head Coach Chance Juby shares his thoughts on how the first half of summer work has gone up to this point.

We previously talked about senior quarterback Trevor Emberson and what his growth has been like this summer as he enters his third consecutive year as the starting signal caller, and now we will talk about his backup for the upcoming season.

Sophomore Adrian O’dell is a name to watch as he is a very athletic younger guy. O’dell played some late game minutes at quarterback last season and also played in the secondary on defense. O’dell was also a heavy rotation player for the basketball team his freshman season.

While O’dell may not be starting at quarterback, Juby says that he will get plenty of opportunities to get the ball in his hands. Juby also says he’s excited about what he’s season from this group of underclassmen.

The Ironmen will enjoy this week off before getting back to work next week and prepare to go to Kansas for a team football camp at the end of this month.
