Nowata basketball picked up a dominant win over Oklahoma Union on Friday night in Nowata.

The Ironmen beat the Cougars, 75-48.

Outside shooting was the theme going both ways, as the first three buckets of the game were three-pointers.

Hayden Rogers had a great night for OKU, with lots of shots falling in the first half. He kept the Cougars in it with this three-pointer early in the second quarter.

Nowata led 37-29 at halftime, before exploding in the third quarter to pull away. The Ironmen stretched the lead into the 30s late in the ballgame.

This sequence for Nowata helped fend off an OKU run and stretch the lead in the third.

The win puts Nowata at 2-0 overall, OKU falls to 0-2 with the loss. Both teams will play in the Ty Hewitt Memorial Tournament in Nowata next week.

The Ironmen will open the tournament against Mannford on Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. Oklahoma Union will open against Fairland at 8:30 p.m.
