Lady Mustangs Poised for Another Strong Season Under Coach Warford

The Oologah-Talala Lady Mustangs enter the new season with a renewed sense of direction under Head Coach Clif Warford, whose steady leadership and emphasis on fundamentals continue to shape the program’s identity. Warford’s approach, built on accountability, defensive discipline, and player development has helped create a culture in which athletes understand their roles and push each other daily.

This year’s roster leans on a strong and experienced core. Ashtyn K. Warford, a junior point guard, anchors the backcourt with her playmaking ability and leadership. Kaycee Traywick and Kalley Hogue provide scoring and steadiness on the perimeter, while Kailee Seaba, a versatile junior, adds an inside-out scoring threat who can create matchup problems. Younger players like Macey Calico bring energy and depth, giving Oologah-Talala a stronger rotation than in recent seasons. The team’s balance with multiple players capable of initiating offense or finishing possessions should be a defining strength.

Strategically, expect the Lady Mustangs to continue building around tough, organized defense. Warford emphasizes communication, positioning, and forcing opponents into low-percentage shots. Offensively, Oologah-Talala plans to play with improved pace and spacing, relying on ball movement and multiple scoring options rather than a single high-volume shooter. If the Lady Mustangs maintain their defensive identity while taking steps forward in efficiency and consistency on offense, they could position themselves as a serious competitor in Class 4A by season’s end.
