Lady Bullpups Roll Into Semifinals
The Caney Valley Lady Bullpups are moving on to the Sub-State semifinal round after a decisive 61-40 victory over the Smoky Valley Lady Vikings. After a sluggish opening stretch in the first quarter, Caney Valley shifted momentum and steadily pulled away. The Lady Bullpups tightened defensively and found consistency on offense, building a lead that held firm through the second half.
Only five players scored for Caney Valley, but four reached double figures. Elyn Washburn led all scorers with 22 points. Alysa Scott, Ameris King-Dunn and Molleigh Kaminska each added 10 points, while Alex Theiss finished with nine, just short of double digits. Smoky Valley was led by Natalie Brown with 14 points and Kenzley Haxton with 12.
The loss ends the Lady Vikings’ season. The Lady Bullpups advance to face Southeast of Saline in the Sub-State semifinal round Wednesday at 6 p.m., continuing their postseason run with a spot in the finals on the line.
