Kent Poised Into Sophomore Year

We are one week away from high school football practices starting up across Northeast Oklahoma.
At Bartlesville High, all eyes are on a young group of Bruins who came on strong at the end of 2024. Bartlesville won three games in a row starting in late October, which pushed BHS back into the postseason.
Most of those young guys are back again this fall, including the quarterback.
Freshman Michael Kent was a first-year starter toward the end of this past season. Kent had played consistently at defensive back and wide receiver until being forced into the QB role later in the season.
Kent completed 67.9 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and one interception. He threw for nearly 500 yards. BHS also came dangerously close to knocking off its first-round playoff opponent before falling in a close game on the road.
Wright talks about Kent’s development as QB.
Kent will have a new quarterbacks coach this fall, as longtime Bruin offensive coordinator and QB coach Jason Munoz is not with the program in 2025. Aaron Winfrey will serve as the quarterback coach this season. Winfrey was at St. Francis Illinois in the college coaching ranks prior to coming to Bartlesville.
The Bruins start practice on Aug. 11, while BHS opens its season on Aug. 29 at home against Newcastle.
