Indians Wrap Up 5-1 Weekend

The Doenges Ford Indians wrapped up a spectacular weekend with a hard-earned split on Sunday evening against the Tulsa Sandlot of the Oklahoma Collegiate League.

The Indians lost game one, 10-0, then won game two, 4-1. Bartlesville went 5-1 over six games this past weekend at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

The Tribe struggled in all facets in the first game. The Indians committed two early errors that led to four unearned Tulsa Sandlot runs. Bartlesville was no-hit in the contest - And only grabbed five base runners on walks. Former Dewey Bulldogger Cole Hancock took the loss in a spot start but did register five strikeouts.  

In game two the Tribe turned things around. Bartlesville was down 1-0 before the Indians came alive in the fourth with a Hunter Shea double and Kael Siemers single, which scored two to give the Indians the lead for good.

In the sixth, Siemers would double home two more to add some insurance.

Siemers would prove the hero. He had three of the four RBIs in the game, then added a save to his resume, facing only four in the top of the seventh to secure the victory.

Carlos Lopez gave the Indians a spot start against the Collegiate League team. Lopez has spent time at Coffeyville Community College and Oklahoma Wesleyan He allowed only one hit over six innings. He struck out six and walked two.

The 5-1 weekend improves Bartlesville’s summer baseball team to 11-3 overall, as the Indians get set for their annual trip to Mountain Home, Arkansas. The team leaves on Wednesday but plays its first game on Thursday afternoon.
