Indians Tryouts Set for May 2

Believe it or not, it is nearing the time for summer baseball in Bartlesville once again. And the Doenges Toyota Indians are back for another season this year.

The Tribe is under new direction for the first time since 2020. Tony Osborne takes over the program.

Osborne is from Dewey and runs Top Notch Baseball. He takes over the program from former manager John Pannell. Osborne will be joined by a couple former Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball players as assistants.

Osborne talks about what Indians baseball has meant to Bartlesville for nearly 100 years.

As far as Osborne’s background and mission, he says the goal of the program will still be to place the best players in our area on college teams if that is something they want to pursue.

Osborne says many of the eligible players from last season are slated to come back once again this summer. The Indians have set a tryout date for Saturday, May 2.

The program is going to have a younger Braves team once again this year, so younger players are also invited to attend.

The tryouts begin at 9:00 on May 2 from the OKWU practice baseball field. KWON will have more on those tryouts as they approach.

For information about the tryouts contact Osborne at 918-331-8095
