It is finally opening day for summer baseball in Bartlesville, as the newly named Doenges Toyota Indians will take the field for the first time on Tuesday night.

Bartlesville’s boys of summer have been practicing throughout the past week getting set for game one in Wichita, Kansas. The Tribe will take on the Kansas Curve, a college club out of the Kansas Collegiate League.

This is game one of three the Indians play against the Curve to begin the season. They will visit Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium for a double-header on Friday afternoon in Bartlesville’s home-opener.

This summer’s roster features several fifth-year Indians and nine returning guys. There are also 12 newcomers, including all three of the Dewey Bulldoggers who will get the ball on the mound. Lathe Griggs, Zane Griggs and Bryce Sickler are the scheduled pitchers.

Manager John Pannell is back for his 14th season leading the program. He talks a bit more about the roster highlights.

A scheduled 7:00 first pitch from Eck Stadium, where Wichita State plays its baseball. We will have coverage from the Sunflower State for you on KWON – AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1. Video coverage on KWONTV.com.
