Indians Go 2-2 in Mountain Home

Another solid weekend for Bartlesville’s summer baseball team, as the Doenges Ford Indians qualified for the semifinals of the Mountain Home Twin Lakes Classic this past weekend but fell in the bracket round on Sunday.

Pontotoc, Mississippi beat Bartlesville 6-0 on Sunday afternoon and then went on to win the event.

For the second time in the tournament the Indians struggled with the bats, as Bartlesville managed only four hits.

It was two Indian errors in the fourth inning that creaked the door open for Pontotoc. With two outs, a missed ground ball and dropped pop fly on back-to-back plays allowed three unearned Red Sox runs to score.

However, Bartlesville had some solid defensive plays. This nice pickup on a ground ball from Grant Clark helped stymie a Pontotoc threat.

Clark and Luke Fox teamed up for six innings on the mound and gave Bartlesville a chance. Clark went five innings and did not allow any earned runs. Fox gave up two hits and two runs over two innings of relief.

Fox also had one of the best swings of the day, in just the second at-bat against Pontotoc he hit a long single in the alley.

Bartlesville went 2-2 in the tournament and made bracket play for the first time in three years. The Indians are 13-5 overall, only one victory from their entire win total last year.

The Tribe will host another collegiate league club in a double-header on Thursday. Only three dates, all at home, before the 65th Glen Winget Tournament.
