The Doenges Ford Indians went 1-1 during their first day of the American Legion State Tournament on Thursday.

The Tribe will now face elimination every game from here on out the rest of the weekend in Ada.

Bartlesville yo-yoed results on day one, with a 13-1 win over Midwest City in game one, then an 8-1 loss to the Ada Braves in game two.

Game one was a blowout from the beginning. Bartlesville scored six runs over the first two innings, including five in a huge top of the second.

Nik Johnson drove in two to break the game open in the second.

Brenden Asher and Eli Winters both had three hits in the first game. Bartlesville had 10 hits and 12 walks in the contest, which ended in five innings.

Meanwhile, Hunter Shea dazzled on the bump. He went the full five frames and gave up only one hit and struck out nine.

Game two was a different story. The older Ada Braves club slowly pulled away. Ada tallied 13 hits over six frames, scoring in each of the first five frames.

Bartlesville got its only run in the fifth on Kaleb Bashford’s first hit of the day.

The Indians got a break in the bracket, as Midwest City dropped out of the tournament early. Now the Tribe does not play until 6:00 on Friday night. The Indians face the winner of the Ada A’s and Blanchard elimination contest.
