Indians Baseball Sweeps First Day in Branson

The Doenges Toyota Indians swept their first two games of the Bobcat Showcase Thursday in Branson, Mo.
 
The Indians beat 643KC in game one, 8-3, and dominated Harrison in game two, 11-1.
 
The Tribe got off to an early lead in the first game after scoring two runs in the top of the first. 643KC responded with a two-run homerun in the bottom of the first to tie the game at two. Neither team would score a run until the sixth inning. The Tribe stole a run in the top of the sixth to take the lead back.
 
Bartlesville scored six runs over the final two frames in game one to win by five. Rhett Leu led the way with a 3-for-5 performance, including doubles in the sixth and seventh innings.
 
In game two, the Indians took control early. Harrison scored the first run of the game in the top of the third after the Indians tried to turn a double play but missed the throw to first. One half-inning later, the Tribe struck for eight runs.
 
This bunt by Bryce Leulf added on to the lead.
 
The Indians scored three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to win the game early.
 
Lathe Griggs led the way on the mound in game two with seven strikeouts over four shutout innings. 
 
The Indians put themselves in the driver's seat with a 2-0 record in pool play. They have two more games to wrap up pool play Friday. The Tribe take on Clever at 4 p.m. and Branson at 6 p.m.
 
The first game can be heard on Sports Talk, 99.1 FM, 1500 AM - KPGM, the second game can be heard on KWON - AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1. Both games will be streamed on KWONTV.com.
