Huskies Hosting 7 on 7 Tournament Friday

The Pawhuska Huskies are hosting a 7 on 7 tournament on Friday. Ten teams are set to participate, with some coming as far away as Pocola and Watonga. Oklahoma Union will be the one other local team competing in the event.

Pawhuska Coach Matt Hennesy said that in years past, they have participated in the 7 on 7 tournament in Wagoner, but decided to host their own this year because they were one of the few schools below Class 4A who attended. This is why Hennesy limited this tournament to Class A and 2A schools only.

The tournament will be two pools with five teams in each bracket. Depending upon how each team does in pool play will depend upon how they get seeded in championship play later that afternoon. As Hennesy said, nobody will remember who won the 7 on 7 championship in July. That is why situations like this are about finding ways to get better.

The competition begins at 8:30 a.m. and is open to the public.
