Huskies Getting Off to Strong Start in Fall Camp

Fall practices started on Monday for the Pawhuska Huskies. As Coach Matt Hennesy enters his seventh season at the helm in Pawhuska, he says this has been the best offseason and start to fall camp he has seen.

Hennesy credits the strong start to the players and coaches knowing what to expect. For a second consecutive season, Pawhuska has been practicing in the morning to beat the heat. In addition to seeing effort, attitude and toughness during these hot days of practice, Hennesy is looking for that senior leadership to step up. One thing Hennesy is in the process of doing is picking captains.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Will Sweeden and Canyon Hindman were the two captains that had been named. Hennesy goes on to talk about the process of picking team captains.

The Huskies will participate in an intrasquad scrimmage on Friday morning. Hennesy says he is excited to put the pads on and see how the team responds.

You can hear much more from Hennesy, along with all other area coaches this Saturday during our coaches breakfast from Chick-Fil-A in Bartlesville. The broadcast will be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on KWON AM 1400 FM 93.3 95.1 and streaming on KWONTV.com.
