Hennesy Talks Morning Bruin Practices
Bartlesville High is wrapping up football practice No. 10 as we speak, as the Bruins are quickly approaching their preparation for a scrimmage next week.
BHS has adjusted to morning practices this year. The Bruins are practicing from 5:30 until about 7:30 between Custer Stadium and the practice fields east of the freshman academy.
This is a system that new head coach Matt Hennesy brought over from Pawhuska this past season. Hennesy says there are plenty of benefits to getting practice out of the way early.
Hennesy says in addition to some of the physical and mental advantages of going in the morning, there is another opportunity to snap in X’s and O’s.
Hennesy says reviewing the practice film during the final hour of the school day helps as well.
Hennesy said the ability to show the players their highlights or mistakes on the same day as practice in the morning is helpful in the mental aspect of practices.
