Dewey Lady Bulldogger volleyball is off to the 3A state tournament for the first time in program history on Thursday, after escaping their home regional last weekend.

Dewey got past Oklahoma Union in four sets to advance to the regional final, and escaped past Corn Bible Academy in five sets to win the regional and advance to state.

Head coach Hayley Harris talked about her team's journey.

Dewey will take on the top team in the state in the opening round in Metro Christian. Metro is 28-2 overall, they have not lost a set since they got swept by Victory Christian, the number two team in 4A, on Sept. 23. Metro swept their way through Daniel Webster and Summit Christian to advance to state.

Dewey was swept, 2-0, to Metro on Sept. 13.

The Lady Bulldoggers will start off their state tournament run on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. The match will be played at Choctaw High School. A win and Dewey would advance to a semifinal on Friday at 6:15 p.m. against the winner of Southwest Covenant and Holland Hall.
