Fall sports at Oklahoma Wesleyan University are in full swing, with eyes on both soccer teams and the women's volleyball team.

On the soccer pitch, both the OKWU men's and women's teams are still early in their seasons.

The men's soccer squad sits at 1-0-2. As of the most recent NAIA national rankings, the Eagles are ranked fourth in the country. OKWU's lone win to this point is against 13th-ranked Baker University, with a draw against 15th-ranked LSU Shreveport and another draw against John Brown University, who is also receiving votes for the national rankings. OKWU men's soccer will be back in action on Thursday in Oklahoma City against Mid-America Christian University at 7:30 p.m.

Through three matches for the women's soccer team, the Lady Eagles are 2-1. Head coach Ivan Ristic's squad bumped up a spot to number 15 nationally in the latest rankings. OKWU has wins over 21st-ranked Central Methodist University and 13th-ranked Mid-America Nazarene, with the lone loss to 9th-ranked Missouri Valley by just a goal. OKWU women's soccer returns on Saturday morning for Lindsey Wilson College.

On the volleyball court, the Lady Eagles are 7-1. Four of the seven wins are in straight sets. The Lady Eagles are ranked eighth in the country. OKWU swept the field in a tournament Sioux City, Iowa to start the season, followed by a 3-1 performance in another tournament in Eugene, Ore. The Lady Eagles volleyball squad returns for a doubleheader on Saturday against the University of Science and Arts (OK) and Nelson University (TX).

Head women's volleyball coach Tracie Gillette talked about the excitement level at OKWU following last year's successes.

Each of these three programs advanced to the NAIA national tournament last fall.
