Caney Valley football excited for 2024 season
The Caney Valley football program is looking to make great strides in 2024.
The Trojans moved down a classification to A-1 and hope to find some success after a tough 0-10 season in 2023. Caney Valley Head Coach Stephen Mitchell says that his team is looking forward turning a new chapter in 2024.
Mitchell says participation numbers are high and that he is excited to have some key returners back this season, including one of the Trojans top weapons in Senior Wide Receivers Seth Perkins. Caney Valley lost one of the better players in the region in Cooper Fogle due to graduation, as led the Trojans in many statistical categories last fall. Coach Mitchell knows that Fogle is a tough player to replace, but notes that incoming Junior Noah Mitchell has varsity experience.
Mitchell threw for four touchdowns and 399 yards and is the expected starter at Quarterback for Caney Valley going into fall camp.
The Trojans will open up the season at home vs. Barnsdall on Aug. 30.
