Bruins Split COP-Arvest Day 2

Both Bartlesville High basketball teams again split their two games in the ConocoPhillips Arvest Invitational during day two action on Friday, but this time with the boys winning and girls losing.

On the guy’s side, BHS advanced to the fifth-place game of the event with a blistering shooting performance. The Bruins topped Will Rogers 88-25.

Bartlesville made an outstanding 15 three-pointers in the game, 11 of which came in the first half. The Bruins had 59 points at halftime when officials started a running clock for the final 16 minutes.

This three from Hunter Holmes was part of the onslaught.

Bartlesville improves to 4-7 with the win and now has one more victory than it had all last season.

14 different Bruins scored and several starters didn’t play in the final two quarters.

BHS will now face Yukon in the fifth-place game at 11:30 AM from Bruin Field House.

Meanwhile on the girl’s side it was a cold shooting night. The Lady Bruins fell to Life Prep Academy out of Wichita, 51-35.

Bartlesville got down double-digits after getting outscored 17-3 in the second quarter and could never find its footing after that.

BHS would cut the lead to seven several times, but that’s as close as it would get.

This floater from Kenzie Denny was a highlight in a higher scoring first quarter.

Shaylyn Ishem was the only BHS girl in double-figures with 10, earning Patriot Player of the Game honors. The Lady Bruins will take on a familiar foe in Broken Arrow for third place in the tournament at 1:00 PM from Bruin Field House.

Basically, a Bartlesville double-header at 11:30 and 1:00 on Saturday from the COP-Arvest on KWON and KWONTV.com. Pregame will begin around 11:05.
