Bartlesville High came away with a last-second gritty homecoming victory on Friday night at Custer Stadium, to preserve their perfect District start.

BHS escaped with a 31-28 win over Putnam City West. The Bruins fourth-straight win against the Patriots.

Bartlesville kicker Braxton Decker was the hero, hitting a 27-yard field goal with seven second remaining that would give the Bruins the win.

BHS had an early 14-0 lead about three minutes into the contest thanks to a long touchdown drive to begin the game. Damien Niko caught the first of his two touchdowns, and it looked might it might be a rout.

However, PC West never went away. The Patriots forced two Bruin fumbles in the first half. Both would lead to scores. It was 21-21 at halftime.

Both teams would trade touchdowns in the third quarter, and it would stay tied at 28 into the final 12 minutes.

A Bruin forced fumble by Sutton Williams ended up giving Bartlesville the ball with under a minute to play inside the Patriot 20. A few plays later Decker’s kick would end it.

A sack from Cooper Wood was the final play of the contest.

BHS was without starting running back PJ Wallace for the entirety of the game.

Bartlesville is 3-3 overall, 3-0 in District play and will next host Stillwater on Thursday.
