Bartlesville High basketball battled in a couple of tough losses at Broken Arrow on Tuesday evening.

Both BHS teams have started District play at 0-1 after double-digit losses to the Tigers.

Bartlesville girls fell to the Tigers, 74-55. It was a run late in the first quarter to early in the second that spoiled BHS competing. Bartlesville entered the second quarter down by eight but quickly got down 20. The Lady Bruins never made a serious comeback.

Kenzie Denny hit this three-pointer early in the game that kept pace for BHS in the first few minutes.

Sami Sheaffer led the way for BHS with 22. Denny added 14 while Emma Zimmerman had 13. The Lady Bruins are now off today and have an overnight trip to Carthage, Missouri for three games starting tomorrow in tournament play.

Meanwhile the Bruin guys played Broken Arrow tougher than at any point the past couple of seasons. The Tigers pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 75-45 win.

Bartlesville got down 14 at the end of the first quarter and played pretty much even with the Tigers over the next 2.5 quarters. BHS was down 19 entering the fourth.

This stick back from Hunter Holmes got BHS within 15 early in the fourth quarter.

Trae Collins finished with a team-high 14. Dennis Duncan had 12.

The Bruin guys will next take on Metro Christian on Thursday morning at 11:30 in the first round of the Cleveland Tournament.
