Some good signs early this offseason for Bartlesville High Bruin football, as BHS competed well at a 7-on-7 tournament over the weekend at Oklahoma State.

The Skordle Cowboy Clash 7v7 event in Stillwater featured the Bruins and several other top 6A teams in the state. Bartlesville went 4-1 in five competitions while at the event.

BHS beat Ponca City, Lawton and the B teams from Jenks and Broken Arrow. The only Bruin loss was to Bixby. This is one of two of those types of events Bartlesville goes to this summer.

Head coach Harry Wright explains.

The Bixby 7-on-7 event has been moved to this Friday, so the Bruins will have them in back-to-back weeks.

This is all part of a sprint to August for the Bruins, fall camp begins on August 12 with a dead period from the OSSAA coming up in early July, Wright talks about Bartlesville’s upcoming offseason schedule.

We will have more on Bartlesville’s schedule this fall in the coming days, but it is confirmed the Bruins first game will be on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Newcastle to begin the season.

It is the first Zero Week game in four years for BHS, it is played on a Thursday evening to avoid the Friday night OU game to kick off the 2024 season.
