Bruin Basketball Excels in Summer

Bartlesville High boys’ basketball is right in the middle of a long offseason, as BHS continues to break in a new coach.

Jake Christenson has been at the helm since late April. The Bruins went through several team camps in June with good results. Bartlesville took several road trips to different towns in Oklahoma to get in summer games. After going 1-3 during its first four-game day of the summer, the Bruins did no worse than 3-1 in a single day the rest of the summer.

Christenson talks about his overall thoughts of the offseason thus far.

The Bruins went 10-12 deep often last year under then first-year head coach Tommy DeSalme, who stepped away from the program earlier in the offseason.

Bartlesville returns every contributor but one off that team. The Bruins won only a couple games but played with a group of mainly freshmen.

Christenson talks about what has stood out to him through his first few months with the team.

Trae Collins, Dennis Duncan, Michael Kent, Hunter Holmes and Jordan Turner are a few of the names expected back in the Bruins lineup in 2025.

Christenson just wrapped up being a coach for the Large East OCA All-State Team last week, an honor he snatched after a successful 2024-25 season at Cushing. The Tigers went 19-9 before he was tapped by Bartlesville High.
